Turning Past Tense Into Playful Tales!

Beginner/Intermediate  - 1 hour

Aim - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to correctly pronounce the -ed endings of regular past tense verbs in English.  They´ll do this by watching a short explanatory video, then sorting and practicing with flashcards to identify the correct pronunciation, and finally creating a themed story using the past tense verbs.

WARM-UP (10 min)

Ask the children questions such as what they did on the weekend, or during the summer to get them thinking in the past tense.

Ask them if they know which two letters are needed to talk about an action in the past using the past simple.  If necessary, take a few minutes to explain.

LESSON CONCLUSION (5 min)

Take a moment to review the pronunciation rule we have learnt and praise the children on their creative storytelling and correct pronunciation. The story creation will have helped in making pronunciation engaging and memorable, reinforcing their understanding and having a great time in the process!
