LEARNING AIM
Students will correctly use this, that, these, and those to talk about classroom objects and understand the difference between:
Near vs Far
Singular vs Plural
WARM UP
What's Missing?
Place several classroom objects in the centre of the circle.
Students close their eyes while one object is removed.
Students identify the missing object.
Ask guiding questions such as:
"Why do I say this?"
"Why do I say those?"
Allow students to notice patterns before explaining the rules.

THESE = more than one, near
THOSE = more than one, far
CLASS ACTIVITY 1
CLASSROOM EXAMPLES
Students look around the classroom and create sentences using demonstratives.
Examples:
"This is my pencil."
"Those are the bags."
Encourage complete sentences and gentle self-correction.
DEMONSTATIVES ACTION RHYME
Students learn the rhyme using gestures.
Teacher only: say + act once
Teacher + students together
Students only (you just do actions)
Whisper round (very fun!)
Fast round (challenge!)
WRAP UP
Review:
This / These = Near
That / Those = Far
Finish by repeating the action rhyme together.
This, That, These, Those
Students write five sentences describing objects in the classroom using demonstratives.
Find four objects at home and write:
This is...
That is...
These are...
Those are...
TEACHER TIP
Place objects both near and far from students before introducing the grammar. Students usually discover the pattern themselves before the explanation begins.
