Beginner - 1 hr
WARM-UP (10 min)
Quick brainstorming: Ask, “Do you know any words that end in -tion?”
(write them on the board as they come up)
PRONOUNCE - WORDS THAT END IN -TION VIDEO & EXPLANATION (5 min)
Play the video Pronounce words that end in -TION correctly - English with Jody and check that the students understand the concept.
Go through the words on the board and use the pronunciation trick to say them correctly.
LISTENING ACTIVITY (10 min)
Download the worksheet listening activity (in three different levels depending on the individual needs of your class and students) and play the listening once through.
The second time have the students complete the worksheet with the -TION words they hear.

ROLE PLAY (15 min)
Now the students have a list of -tion words in partners or groups they can prepare a mini skit (2-3 minutes) that include 3-4 of these words and have them perform the skit to the class.
- TION TONGUE TWISTER CHALLENGE (10 min)
Download the tongue twister worksheet and give one to each child or group. First, have them identify and underline all the words that end with -tion.
Start by saying Step 1, then add each new line. Repeat from the beginning every time you add a new word. By the end, you will say all 6 words!
Step 1: Two teachers were waiting at the station.
Step 2: Using their imagination.
Step 3: To solve a situation.
Step 4: With a smart solution.
Step 5: And having a long conversation.
Step 6: About a grand celebration!

LESSON CONCLUSION (10 min)
Take a moment to review the pronunciation rule we have learnt and explain that today we discovered how many fun words end with -tion! We practiced listening for them, saying them clearly, and even using them in a mini theatre. Now you can spot -tion words in conversations, songs, and stories—and use them to make your English sound even stronger!
Aim - By the end of the lesson, students will recognize, pronounce, and use words ending in -tion through listening, performance activities and a fun chant, helping them build vocabulary and confidence in speaking.
