Build-A-Body Adventure!
Beginner Level 45 minutes
Aim - To help students learn and identify basic body parts in a fun and interactive way, using movement, crafts and games to reinforce their new vocabulary.
WARM-UP (10 min)
Ask the children "Where is your nose?" and have them point to it. Repeat with various parts of the body.
If you need to reinforce the vocabulary you can use our Body Parts Class Flashcards as a visual aid.
Once you have identified the body parts sing the song
"Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes"
Sing it various times sometimes faster, slower, louder, quieter etc to reinforce the vocabulary in a fun way.
BUILD-A-BODY - MONSTER MASH VERSION (10-15 min)
For this activity you will need to download the Body Class Flashcards and have one or several dice.
Explain to the class that they are going to build a monster (This can be done individually, in groups, or on a blackboard as a group)
1. Draw the outline of a monster body (this can be a simple circle or wiggly shape)
2. Select one of the flashcards and roll the die. If the die shows a four, the children will need to draw four eyes on their monster.
3. Repeat with all body parts to make a fun and silly monster they can colour and decorate. Lots of giggles guaranteed!

SIMON SAYS (10 min)
To finish the class, play a game of "Simon Says" where you give instructions to touch a body part. But remember if you don´t say, "Simon says touch your nose" and just say, "Touch your nose" and they move, they are out!
LESSON CONCLUSION (5 min)
By the end of our build-a-body adventure the children will have learned and used the basic body parts in a fun and entertaining way. Finish the class by reviewing the body parts and wiggling their body starting from their toes all the way up to their head to end on a fun note and leave the class with a big smile on their faces.
