School Supplies!
Beginner Level 1 hour
Aim - Students will be able to identify and name common school supplies in English (pen, pencil, scissors, glue, eraser, backpack, notebook, ruler, pencil case, crayons)
WARM UP (5 - 10 min)​
Call out school objects that the students will have on their desks or in their backpacks and as you call them out the students have to find them and raise them into the air. They can brainstorm other items they use specifically in the classroom such as a whiteboard, paint, paint brush etc
WHAT´S IN MY BACKPACK ONLINE MEMORY GAME (5 - 10 min)
Play the online game School Supplies - What´s in my Backpack?
​The students will see 5 school objects pass across the screen and they need to identify them from all the images shown at the end of the game.

GAME - IN MY BACKPACK I HAVE................ (10 min)​​

Have the students sit in a circle.

Explain the game:
“We’re going to pack our school bag together! Each person adds one new thing.”

The first student starts by saying:
“In my backpack, I have a pen.”
-
The next student repeats the sentence and adds a new item:
“In my backpack, I have a pen and a pencil.”
-
Each following student repeats all the previous items in order and adds one more.
“In my backpack, I have a pen, a pencil, and scissors.”
-
Continue around the circle until students can’t remember all the items or until everyone has had a turn.
WHAT'S IN MY BACKPACK (LIVE LISTENING) (10-15 min)​​
You don’t need an audio track — you can be the voice!

Say sentences like:

“In my backpack, I have a pencil, I don’t have a ruler but I have crayons and glue.”

One you have finished ask them questions such as “Do I have a ruler?” → Kids answer “Yes!” or “No!”

SCHOOL SUPPLIES WORD SEARCH (10 min)​
Give each student a school supplies word search.
They need to match the object to the word and find it in the wordsearch.
LESSON CONCLUSION (5 min)​
By the end of our school supplies class the students will have learned and used the basic school objects in a fun and entertaining way. Finish the class by reviewing the objects and praising them for their efforts.
