When I grow up: Exploring Different Jobs
Aim - To introduce young children to common professions, such as doctors firefighters and police officers through fun interactive games and role-playing. By the end of the class, children will be able to name and describe these key jobs and act out simple scenarios related to each profession.
WARM-UP (10 min)
​Ask the students what they would like to be when they grow up.
Show them the Profession Class Flashcards and talk about the people on the cards and what they do as part of their job (Doctor, Police Officer, Firefighter, Dentist, Vet, Teacher, Chef, Construction Worker, Pilot, Football Player)
WHAT DO I NEED? - ONLINE GAME (5 min)
Use the online quiz What do I need? to look at different jobs and choose which of the two pictures is necessary for the person to do their job correctly (Uses the same jobs as in the warm-up)
GUESS THE JOB - CHARADES (10 min)​​
Now the children are familiar with the different jobs, act them out one by one and let the children guess which job it is.​​

EXPLORING DIFFERENT JOBS - ROLEPLAY (15 min)​​
Prepare different stations with objects necessary for the job e.g. a table with bandages, plasters and a stethoscope for a doctor, or a firefighter’s hat and toy fire truck, and let the children explore the items and roleplay doing different jobs.​​​​​​

LESSON CONCLUSION (5 min)​
Review the professions we have learned about in the class and give each child the opportunity to share which profession they enjoyed pretending to be the most.
